Carmen Becerril is the President of ACCIONA Energía since January 2010. Ms Becerril became part of the board of Endesa after ACCIONA bought a significant participation in the company. Carmen Becerril had joined ACCIONA in 2005 as General Manager of Strategic Analysis and R&D; and became involved in the development of many renewable projects. Before joining ACCIONA, Ms Becerril held senior posts in the financial area of Spain’s central government. Between 2000 and 2004 she was Director-General of the Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving (IDAE) and Director-General of Energy Policy and Mining, and she was responsible for carrying out the liberalisation of Spain’s energy markets in both the electricity and gas sectors, and for modernising and restructuring the coal mining industry. Ms Becerril was formerly Head of Energy Consulting at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Carmen Becerril graduated in law from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and holds an MBA from IESE.
