Juan Antonio Zufiria is General Manager, IBM in Spain, Portugal, Greece and Israel since January 2009.

In his previous position, Juan A. Zufiria was General Manager, GTS Business Lines for IBM Southwest Europe.

Zufiria joined IBM in 1987, when he was hired as a researcher in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the company’s Thomas Watson Research Center in New York. Since then, he has held several local and international responsibilities, including Manager of AIX Products in Spain, Executive Assistant to the President of IBM EMEA, and Vice President of Business Processes, Technology and Controls at IBM Global Services Europe, Middle East and Africa. From 2000 to 2006, Mr. Zufiria headed up IBM’s service business in Spain and Portugal, a position that was expanded to include Greece, Turkey and Israel from 2005 on.

Zufiria, who is married and has two children, holds a PhD in Aeronautical Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Madrid and a PhD in Applied Mathematics from the California Institute of Technology. He also holds an MBA from the London School of Economics.
