  • Mr. Angel Cano Fernández worked seven years at Arthur Andersen, specializing in the field of Finance.
  • He joined Argentaria in 1991, as an Assistant Controller, mainly responsible for the development of all the accounting functions, including the preparation of financial statements of the parent company, as well as all the different entities within the Argentaria Group.
  • In 1998, he was appointed Controller and Member of the Executive Committee.
  • Mr. Cano continued as Controller of the new Entity following the merger of BBV and Argentaria.
  • Between April 2001 and January 2003, Mr. Cano held the position of Chief Financial Officer of BBVA and continued as Member of the Executive Committee.
  • In January 2003, Mr. Cano Fernandez was appointed the Human Resources and Services Director for the Group.
  • In December 2005, Mr. Angel Cano Fernández takes the lead of Technology of the BBVA Group and becomes Head of Human Resources and Information Technology.
  • Since January 2006, he also became responsible of the Global Transformation of the BBVA Group.
  • Since September 2009, Mr. Cano Fernández was appointed President and Chief Operating Officer of BBVA.
