Amparo Moraleda has been in her current position at Iberdrola since January 2009. She joined the utility as the head of its international business after 20 years of service at IBM where she has developed her entire professional career. She has held several management positions within IBM in Spain and Europe, such as manager of Business Development for IBM Spain and manager of Human Resources for IBM Global Services in EMEA.

Prior to her current position and since June 2001, Amparo Moraleda was general manager of IBM Spain and Portugal, Greece, Israel and Turkey (SPGIT).

She also served as vice president of Integrated Technology Services, IBM Corporation in New York and prior to this position, Moraleda was executive assistant to Louis V. Gerstner, former CEO of IBM Corporation also based in the United States. At that time, she participated on the worldwide strategic decision making process, focusing specially on Europe, Latin America and Asia-Pacific.

In January 2009, she was appointed member of the Board of Directors of Sol Meliá , S.A. the
leading hotel and vacation resort company in Spain and one of the top five at global level.

She is also member of several business associations, foundations and institutions. In 2005, Amparo Moraleda was inducted to the Women in Technology International Hall of Fame,
considered one of the most prestigious award honouring women in the science and technology fields.

Amparo Moraleda is among the top 10 most valued business leaders in Spain (first woman),
according to the 2009 annual report from MERCO (Monitor Español de Reputación Corporativa).

She studied industrial engineering at ICAI (Pontificia Universidad of Comillas) and obtained an MBA from IESE Business School.
