Angel Corcóstegui is the Founding Partner of Magnum Capital, the largest Private Equity firm in Spain and Portugal.  Magnum is focused on investing primarily in mid-to-upper middle market Iberian Companies.  With around 900 million (US$ 1,3 billion) of committed capital, Magnum has strong domestic endorsements from local investors as well as from high quality flagship international investors.

Prior to founding Magnum in 2006, Mr. Corcóstegui served, from 1994 to 2002, as the global CEO and First Vice-Chairman of Banco Santander Central Hispano (today Banco Santander), the leading bank in Spain that currently ranks among the top-ten banking institutions in the world.  Mr. Corcóstegui completed one of the largest and most technically complex merger ever undertaken in the European market in record time, with the full integration substantially completed in 18 months.  The Banking Group operated in 42 countries, with more than 100,000 employees and assets of more than €200 billion.  As CEO and First Vice-Chairman of Banco Central Hispano, BCH, (1994-1999), he led one of the most successful turnarounds that has taken place in the European Banking Market.  In the period 1995-1998, the Net Income of BCH multiplied by 5.3 times and the market capitalization of BCH multiplied by almost 5 times.

From 1988 to 1994, Mr. Corcóstegui served as General Manager and Board Member of Banco Bilbao Vizcaya (BBV), at the time the largest bank in Spain.  Previously, he was General Manager of Banco Vizcaya.  During his tenure at BBV/BV, Mr. Corcóstegui led the bank’s Investment Banking Division and participated actively in the management of its Industrial Portfolio.

Mr. Corcóstegui is Chairman of EPTISA (leading Spanish Civil Engineering firm), Member of the Board of The Lauder Institute (Joint program with The Wharton Business School) and served as an Industrial Advisor to Carlyle Private Equity from 2002 to 2006.

Mr. Corcóstegui holds a Ph.D. in Finance and an MBA from The Wharton Business School (Fulbright Scholar), and a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Santander University.
